A goal in each half sent Dover to defeat against fellow high-fliers Woking in the Blue Square South on Saturday.
The home side scored with the only clear-cut chance of the first half when Moses Ademola reacted first from a corner and guided the ball beyond Whites debutant keeper Ross Flitney after 35 minutes.
Having enjoyed a good deal of possession before the break, the visitors twice came close to levelling early in the second half.
Frannie Collin cut in from the wing and went past four players before firing the ball into the side netting, before Shaun Welford (pictured) brought down a corner but blazed over from eight yards.
Woking added a second after 74 minutes when Flitney only partially cleared a cross and Delano Sam-Yorke headed the ball in at the far post.
The home side leapfrogged Dover with the victory, but Chelmsford’s home defeat to Basingstoke and Thurrock's draw at Welling meant Andy Hessenthaler’s side only dopped one place in the table to third.
