A woman collapsed and died in the Cooperative supermarket in Beauchamp Avenue, Deal, yesterday.

It happened before 2pm and shoppers were asked to leave the store while the situation was attended to.

A Kent Police spokeswoman said: “I can confirm that a lady died in the Cooperative food store.

“We were called at 2pm. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.”

A man who was there at the time and who we are not naming, said: “We think she lived nearby in Arthur Road.”
