This is the premise of Deal writer Carole Hayman's latest thriller Legacy, which becomes available to listen to digitally this month.

Based in the east Kent seaside town, Carole Hayman is the former Associate Director of the Royal Court Theatre and author of The Warfleet Chronicles and Hard Choices.

Her writing includes the hit Radio 4 series Ladies of Letters (which is set to be adapted for the stage in 2021), The Refuge with Sue Townsend and Rides, the first ever all-female TV drama.

She was a Research Fellow at Kings College London, where she conducted a study on Women and Serial Killers.

Her 2021 offering is an insightful, gripping and compulsive thriller told through a series of flashbacks from protagonist Celia’s wild youth in the 60s and examines the ideas of memory, feminism and changing sexual politics.

Legacy is available from Audible Original, an Amazon app with audiobooks and original podcasts, from January 28 costing £13.12.
