Under-age students who are thinking of holding a party to celebrate the end of their exams in the next month are being urged to think again.
Police say they know that school leavers will be planning parties at which they may well be hoping to consume alcohol and in some cases large amounts.
As well as the illegal consumption of alcohol by under-age youngsters, police are concerned that the health and well being of the teenagers could be put at risk, and that they could become involved in criminal or anti-social behaviour as a result of their drinking.
They are particularly concerned about parties being held in non-residential premises and open air venues.
They do not wish to stop any family-organised activities where parents act responsibly.
Many school leavers may have just turned 18 but it is likely that under 18s will also be invited and will want to celebrate the end of their exams.
If anyone has any knowledge of planned parties, especially those organised in public places or open spaces, they are asked to let the police know on 01304 240055.
