Striker Nathan Elder’s last-gasp diving header salvaged a point for Dover in the 1-1 draw against Basingstoke Town in the Skrill South clash at Crabble on Saturday.

Louie Soares fired the visitors ahead after 12 minutes and that’s the way it stayed - despite Basingstoke’s appeal for a second-half penalty - until Elder struck with a minute remaining on the clock.

But the summer signing from Ebbsfleet United wasn’t the only hero for Whites in the final seconds.

Ninth-placed Basingstoke could have taken all three points had it not been for the brilliance of Dover goalkeeper Mitchell Walker.

Basingstoke hit the underside of the crossbar before Walker produced two magnificent saves to deny Soares from netting a second and a dramatic winner from the rebound.

The draw left Dover seventh and two points from of the play-offs.
