Dover Athletic's new striker Nathan Elder admits he has a point to prove to former club Ebbsfleet United

Dover Athletic striker Nathan Elder

Nathan Elder wants to prove Steve Brown wrong by firing Dover to the Conference South title ahead of his former club Ebbsfleet.

The 28-year-old was not offered a contract when Brown, the former Whites assistant boss, was appointed manager at Stonebridge Road.

Elder, who hit 16 goals for the Fleet last term, has already set his sights on the Golden Boot in a Dover shirt.

And he’s planning to “do some damage” when the Kent rivals clash next season – although his relationship with the Ebbsfleet fans means he won’t celebrate if he scores against them.

He said: “Dover want to win the league; no second place, no play-offs and I have no doubt they can do it.

“I scored 15 in Conference Premier and I want to go much further than that this season. I’m looking to be the top goalscorer in the league.

“When I go back to Ebbsfleet, I will want to prove the management wrong and do some damage but there will 100% be no celebration if I do score. The fans treated me so well and I wouldn’t disrespect them.”
