DEAL youngster Sammy Moore looks set to follow in the footsteps of brother Jason by winning England junior football honours. The 14-year-old midfielder has been selected for an England U15 development course at Lilleshall on October 21-23.

Sammy, who lives in Vlissingen Drive, Deal, has also been invited to attend a second course at Lilleshall in February, when the England U15 squad will be selected.

His father, Henry, said: “Sammy’s chances of getting picked this year are slim because he is year younger than most of the other lads who will be attending the development course, but it will be good experience for him and Sammy has obviously caught the FA’s eye.

“He is a very confident lad, both on and off the pitch, and he has taken this news in his stride, like he does everything else.”

Older brother Jason, 22, now with Dover Athletic, played for England U16s while he was an apprentice at West Ham. Sammy is currently playing for Chelsea U15s after joining them from Charlton last season.

Charlton, in fact, weren’t happy with losing the youngster, who had been training with The Valley club since he was eight, and are demanding compensation from the Blues.

Sammy, meanwhile, is now attending Dover College on a football scholarship. He also represents Kent U14s, and will be playing against Hampshire next month.
