Deal Town remain 11th in the Bulmers Cider Kent League Premier Division after they were held to a 0-0 draw at home by Erith Town on Saturday, extending their winless streak in the league to four games.

Playing against a side with only one defeat in their last 11 league encounters, Deal started the brighter with striker Scott Holden shooting just wide of the post with an early chance.

The linesman’s flag also intervened to prevent Deal from taking the lead during the first half, before an early second half substitution by the visitors allowed them to pressurise Paul Rogers’ goal with a long throw.

Although the weapon gave Erith a foothold in the match, Deal continued to create the better chances as Robinson’s free kick was blocked by the keeper, and from the rebound Smith blasted over the bar.

Holden went close again soon after, and Dave Bathgate struck on long range effort over the bar, but it wasn’t to be, as the Londoners held out for a point.
