Deal 2 Holmesdale 1

A week after Holmesdale dumped Deal out of the Kent League Premier Division Cup on aggregate Derek Hares’ side exacted their revenge in the Kent Trophy.

A 78th-minute goal from Josh Davidson gave Deal a 2-1 win to set up a home draw in the quarter-finals against Tunbridge Wells.

It was Deal’s third straight victory after beating Dale in the second leg of the Kent League Premier Cup 1-0 and thrashing Erith & Belvedere 5-1 in the league.

“It was a good game and in the first half we had the wind behind us, we were well on top, hit the bar a couple of times and got a goal," Hares said.

"They equalised before half-time after a mistake by us and for the last 10 minutes of the half they were on top.

“They hit the bar in the second half and the goalkeeper made a good save but we also had a couple of chances and in the end we deserved the win.”

Shane Suter opened the scoring after 20 minutes but with half an hour gone Holmesdale levelled through Joel Greaves.
