LOCAL cricket prospect Sam Northeast has been selected for the England Under-15 side to play in a triangular tournament against Guyana and Ireland.
Fifteen-year-old Sam, from Deal, starred for the South XI in the Bunbury ESCA Under-15 Cricket Festival in Cornwall.
The Harrow School pupil made 152 from just 161 balls against the Midlands XI on the opening day of the tournament after producing a brilliant performance in the field.
He received the Daily Telegraph award for the Outstanding Player of the Tournament as well as one of four Telegraph/Bunbury scholarships on offer.
Sam will now spend a week at the England and Wales Cricket Board Academy at Loughborough University alongside some of England’s senior players.
Sam’s father Alan said: "His innings against the Midlands was just amazing. He had all the coaches drooling."
