Dover Athletic boss Chris Kinnear keen to see his team improve their home form in Skrill South

Dover Athletic begin a run of four successive home games when they take on Dorchester this Saturday, and manager Chris Kinnear acknowledges that the fixture represents an ideal opportunity to start putting an end to the club’s Crabble difficulties.

Of Whites’ four wins in Skrill South this season, only one has been at home, continuing a pattern of inconsistent form at Crabble which has troubled Dover for the past two seasons.

Kinnear said: “There’s no argument that we’ve got to improve our home form and I know the players feel the same way because they want to turn things round and make Crabble a fortress.

“You’ve got to do well at home if you want to be successful and, if we have a good run in these next four matches, then I’m sure we will be happy with where we are at the end of it.”

Saturday’s game, which will be followed by home matches against Rushden & Diamonds in the FA Cup and league fixtures with Havant & Waterlooville and Eastleigh, on paper presents the ideal time to start with Dorchester propping up the table.

But Kinnear pointed out that the Dorset outfit are likely to raise their game this weekend, saying: “When teams come to Crabble, they walk in and see the lovely ground and big crowd and they want to do well.

“It doesn’t make it easy for our players but you’ve got to accept that if you want to play for
Dover.”

Striker Michael Bakare (dead leg) and Tom Wynter (cold) missed the midwek Kent Senior Cup win over Erith and Belveder, along with Mitch Walker and Sean Raggett, who were both rested but all four will come back into contention for Saturday’s match.
