Chris Kinnear admitted to mixed feelings about being handed a trip to MK Dons in the FA Cup second round but insists Whites will be going there to win.
Dover will visit the 22,000-capacity Stadium MK on December 7 after beating Corby Town 2-1 on Saturday, thanks to second-half goals from Nathan Elder and son Chris Kinnear Jnr.
Kinnear admitted: “I had a bit of mixed feelings about it. We would have liked the same tie but at home, you’d have to think it might have been on TV then and we’d always have a better chance of winning at home.
He added: “It’s quite an achievement for the club and for a few of the younger lads hoping to play at a higher level one day, it’s a good opportunity to test themselves.
“We’re going there to win the game, we’re not looking to make up the numbers and you never know, there have been bigger shocks in football.”
Kinnear paid tribute to the large Dover contingent in the crowd of almost 1,400 in Northamptonshire, saying: “The atmosphere was electric and we had amazing support there – it felt like we were the home side.”
Dover are back in knockout action on Saturday as Bath City visit Crabble in the FA Trophy third qualifying round.
Barry Cogan is suspended while Ricky Modeste could be out for a month after a recurrence of his hamstring injury at Corby.
Keeper Mitch Walker has been recalled to the England C squad for the clash with Czech Republic under-21s at Woking next Tuesday.
