Dover Athletic chairman Jim Parmenter insists the club will bounce back from their play-off disappointment and is excited to find out ‘what we can achieve next season.
Mr Parmenter said Whites had achieved their pre-season aim of a play-off plac
e but vowed to ‘go again’ next term, possibly after a squad revamp.
He said: “We said at the beginning of the season we wanted to make the play-offs and we did that.
“We reached the play-off final and we’ve lost narrowly in extra-time – it’s been a great achievement for the boys.”
He added: “We haven’t really discussed where we go from here yet, but I’d imagine there will be some changes to the squad over the summer and we’ll go again next year and see what we can achieve.
“Chris Kinnear will be the manager and we’ll build a new squad and go again.”
Mr Parmenter also praised his squad for forcing extra-time, adding: “It was a great effort. I thought the lads acquitted themselves well.
"I thought the game was even until the referee awarded them what I thought was a dubious free-kick on the edge of the box. “They took a tremendous free-kick but then the game changed and they were really on top from that point.
“We got it to extra-time, dug in, dug deep, but they got a third and though we came back with another, it was just a little bit too far to go.”
