Dover Athletic paid the penalty for squandering several first-half chances as they were beaten at home by Hayes & Yeading in the Skrill South on Saturday.
Chris Kinnear’s side were on the offensive for most of the first half and former Whites keeper Mikhael-Jaimez Ruiz made some good stops in the Hayes & Yeading goal.
But Dover were also guilty of wayward finishing, with Sean Raggett heading a great chance over the bar while fellow defender Michael Kamara also shoot over after good work by Tom Murphy.
With Elliott Charles side-footing wide from a Ricky Modeste cross, Hayes & Yeading then began to produce some attacking threat of their own in the run-up to half-time.
And the visitors enjoyed the majority of the possession in what proved to be a fairly uneventful second half. The only goal came on 72 minutes when Seb Schoburgh strode in to the area before poking the ball past Whites keeper Mitch Walker.
Dover tried frantically to draw level in the closing stages but again they couldn’t find the finishing touch as they slipped to their second successive home defeat.
