Dover Athletic bounced back from Saturday’s 1-0 home defeat to Concord Rangers with victory by the same scoreline at newly-promoted Whitehawk on Bank Holiday Monday.
A first-half penalty from Tom Murphy was enough to earn Chris Kinnear’s side their third win in four matches.
Whites were clearly the better side in the first half and the Brighton-based side were grateful to goalie Chris Winterton for keeping them in the game with three fine saves.
But Dover’s man-of-the-match, Mitch Walker, was the busier of the two keepers in the second half as Whites were continually pushed back into their own half.
It meant that Dover produced little attacking threat after the break but the three points leaves Whites fourth in the Skrill South table ahead of Saturday’s visit by Hayes & Yeading.
