Dover Athletic face an FA Trophy replay against lower-league East Thurrock United at Crabble on Tuesday night after being pegged back by a late equaliser in their First Round tie on Saturday.
Whites were just three minutes away from a place in the Second Round draw on Monday when they allowed a 1-0 lead to slip against the Ryman League Premier Division strugglers and now face a replay at Crabble less than four days before the FA Cup Second Round trip to League 1 promotion-chasers MK Dons.
Tom Murphy’s goal 11 minutes from time looked like it would be enough to send Dover to their eighth win in as many knockout games this season.
The in-form Murphy outmuscled a defender in the corner before cutting inside and playing a one-two with Tom Wynter before firing in a shot which deflected off a defender and into the top corner of Sam Mott’s goal.
However a long free-kick from Tom Stephen into the Dover box on 87 minutes caused havoc and the ball fell to David Bryant who flashed a shot goalward with a deflection taking it past Mitch Walker in the Whites goal.
There was still time for Liam Bellamy to see a shot well-saved by Mott - who had denied the visitors on a host of occasions before the deadlock was broken - and a follow-up to be cleared off the line by Stephen.
