More than 1,000 homes were without power after an underground electricity cable faulted.
It affected 1,011 in postcode areas CT16 2 and CT16 3, and some are still without power.
UK Power Networks say an underground electricity cable faulted on their high voltage network, causing an area wide cut.
A comment from the company said: "There is currently a power cut in this area.
"Our engineers are working hard to fix it as quickly as possible.
"We are sorry for any trouble this may have caused you."
The issue was reported at around 10am and UK Power Networks originally said the power should be restored between 11.30am and 12.30pm.
The company is now estimating that the problem will be fully resolved between 14.30pm and 15.30pm.
