More than £600,000 worth of cannabis has been seized from a motor-home travelling through Dover.
Officers from the UK Border Agency (UKBA) discovered around 300 kilos of cannabis resin after stopping the Fiat motor-home at the Eastern Docks on Saturday, April 19.
The vehicle had arrived on a ferry from France, and was driven by Robert Claude Orchard, 64, accompanied by his 34 year-old daughter and grandson.
The 60 packages of cannabis were found under a bed.
British-born Mr Orchard, of Malaga in Spain, was charged with attempting to smuggle drugs into the UK and was due to appear before Folkestone magistrates on Monday morning.
His daughter, from the Stirling area in Scotland, was released on bail pending further police enquiries.
Carole Upshall, Regional Director South of UKBA said: “This is an excellent result and an example of good joint working by the team.
Anyone with information about activity they suspect may be linked to drug smuggling should call Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs 24 hour hotline, 0800 59 5000.
