Repairs to the A2 Jubilee Way will start tomorrow and will see overnight closures for nearly two weeks.
Several manhole covers on the viaduct need repairing to ensure journeys remain safe and reliable.
The work will be carried out overnight with the A2 closed in both directions between the A258 and A20.
There will be signed diversions in place via the A256 and A20.
Highways Agency structures manager Bala Vishnubala said: “We want to ensure that journeys continue to remain safe and reliable for the tens of thousands of drivers that rely on this route.
“By doing the work now we will provide a long lasting solution that will reduce long term maintenance. To minimise the disruption the work will be carried out overnight, when traffic flows are lowest.”
It will be carried out between 8pm and 6am and is due to be completed by Sunday, June 15.
