A20 through Dover congested due to port traffic

Operation Stack may have been lifted, but the A20 through Dover is gridlocked again.

The Port of Dover has tweeted that the traffic is due to "high demands" for its services.

One frustrated motorist uploaded a picture of the tailback, which shows lorries taking up both lanes.

Aycliffe resident Gary Dodd of St George's Crescent has written a letter to the Mercury about the congestion.

He said: "Lorries are blocking the entrance and exit to South Military Road leading to Aycliffe.

"This what Aycliffe residents have to put up for the most of December and a lot of this month."
