Air ambulance called to A2 Jubilee Way near Dover after crash involving car and a motorbike

A busy section of road leading to the Port of Dover was shut for more than five hours due to a crash.

Traffic was held in both directions on the A2 Jubilee Way, between the A258 and the junction with the A20.

National Highways confirmed it was due to a collision involving a car and a motorbike.

Police and the air ambulance service also attended.

No further details have been given on the crash following requests from KentOnline but it understood the collision occurred at around 2.30pm.

The road closure was in place for several hours but was lifted shortly after 8pm with just one lane remaining closed.

Motorists were warned to plan ahead and expect delays with a series of diversion in place during the time the road was shut.

National Highways says delays of less than 10 minutes remain on the approach.

A spokesman for SECamb said: “We were called at approximately 2:30pm to reports of a collision involving a car and a motorbike.

“Crews assessed and treated one person at the scene, before they were joined by the Air Ambulance Charity, Kent, Surrey, Sussex who airlifted the person to Kings College Hospital in London for further medical care.”

A spokesman for the air ambulance said: “Our crew arrived at the scene at 3.11pm where they worked with SECAmb to help treat the patient, involved in a road traffic collision.

“They then transported the patient to a major trauma centre by air.”
