A popular walking route has been cleaned by a council after human waste was spotted on the side of the road.
Pike Road, near Eythorne, Dover, has long been a favourite rest stop for truck drivers - its location making it ideal for a stop before or after a Dover to Calais ferry crossing.
However it is not an official parking zone, and therefore lacks a number of facilities including toilets and bins.
This has made the stretch a hotspot for litter and human bodily waste, sparking the ire of nearby residents.
One Facebook user noted her husband had notified Dover District Council about the issue before Christmas, yet nothing had been done.
Others have been petitioning for years for the authority to implement double yellow lines on the route, but how this would be enforced in such a rural area was questioned.
Another, Clare Stubbs, said: "The area around Pike Road and Barville Road is disgusting. We photographed it and sent pictures to the council.
"There is a lot of human faeces in Pike Road.
"If you should be taking exercise or walking the dog along there, please be careful.
"There is a lot of human waste with bits of tissue on the grass bank as well.
"In January we were told the council was sending litter pickers out 'in March or April', but I doubt that will happen now."
Following the renewed complaints, Dover District Council confirmed a team was being dispatched today.
The human waste has been removed, but large piles of litter - hemmed in by trucks currently parked - remain.
A spokesman said: "We are aware of problems in this area and we continue to look into ways to address this situation.
"We continue to work hard to keep our roadsides clear, and to arrange a series of roadside clear ups across the district, working closely with partner agencies.
"We continue to work closely with our partners to raise awareness of issues around lorry parking, and to seek solutions on a national level from central government.
"We would urge all road users to help us by not throwing litter or leaving waste by the roadside."
