Armed police arrest man after reported assault on woman in Dover

Dramatic images show the moment a man was arrested by armed police after a woman was injured in a reported attack.

Firearms officers were called to Dover following the incident in Folkestone Road at shortly before noon today.

Armed police detained a man in Shooters Hill, Dover

The woman, who is said to have been assaulted at a home in the street, was taken to hospital with injuries not thought to be serious.

A man, who is known to the alleged victim, was later arrested near North Downs Way.

A number of officers, with holstered guns in clear view, could be seen appearing to assist in detaining an individual in Shooter’s Hill at 2.30pm.

An eyewitness told KentOnline: “There were five armed police officers and four normal police officers there, and as I came away there were two more in a van making their way over.”

The arrested man remains in police custody.
