Beer and bread on menu for The White Cliffs Hotel in St Margaret's festival of yeast

A pub in St Margaret’s is bringing its inaugural Great British Beer and Bread Festival to the village, this May bank holiday.
The free event at The White Cliffs Hotel in the High Street will run from 6pm on Friday, April 29 until 11pm on Monday, May 2.
As well as a selection of traditional real ales, new craft beers and doughy delights, the programme also includes live music entertainment.
Each day will bring a new food special and a pint for just £10. On Friday, as the venue launches its greatly anticipated Weisse Cliffs Wheat Beer, it will be a giant sausage sour dough.
Saturday’s special will be a ploughmans with crusty Kentish cobs, Sunday’s is a rare roast beef sandwich and Monday’s is wood-fired pizza.
The the world famous Bettesteiner Footstompers will kick-start the weekend of music with their foot tapping, thigh slapping tunes on Friday from 7pm.
On Saturday, The Ben Milberry Band will feature from 2pm followed by Will Scott and Jemima Harris at 7pm. The Dulcie-May Moreno Trio will perform from 3pm on Sunday.
Proprietor Gavin Oakley said: “The festival is a great opportunity to discover the local pub in the heart of St Margaret’s-at-Cliffe, one of Kent’s most beautiful villages. A place where you can eat, drink and have fun in surroundings that reflect the coastal area with a wide selection of local traditional real ales and new craft beers alongside fresh, local food and live music from our flourishing local music scene.”
Throughout the weekend, Mr Oakley will be firing-up his wood-fired bread oven with bread, cookie and pizza making for kids and adults alike.
The White Cliffs Bakery will also be on hand with a stall of breads, buns, cakes and more for your delectation.
