A bomb disposal truck has been spotted in a town centre.

One member of the public pictured the Ministry of Defense Vehicle in Dover High Street just after children were leaving school.

A bomb disposal van was spotted on Dover High Street earlier today

The bomb disposal team had been called to Balfour Road in Dover at the request of the police.

The team found a solid shot shell, which was subsequently safely disposed of.

It’s been reported that police closed off part of nearby Barton Path, which runs along the River Dour, at around 3pm.

Other pedestrians were also told to avoid the area earlier while walking through the town.

One witness saw the van still stationed in the area at around 3.45pm.

It’s understood the route has since reopened.

A MOD Spokesperson said: “We can confirm that an Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was called out to Balfour Road, Dover, at the request of the Kent police”.
