This stunning video shows part of Coombe Valley Road in Dover almost looking like a waterway after a main burst last night.

The footage was taken by resident Vanessa Dickenson and uploaded onto the Facebook page Dover for Disgruntled Dovorians.

It happened at the Junction of Primrose Road and one witness described the road as "flowing like a river."

One witness said the water was "flowing like a river" onto nearby London Road.

Some customers said it had led to the loss of their water supplies but they were later reconnected.

Affinity water spokesman Nigel Beavin said: “We are sorry for any inconvenience caused. “We would like to thank our customers for their patience.”

“Our technicians located the area of the burst, isolated the water main and diverted water from other areas to quickly restore supplies to customers.”

Mr Beavin said that company technicians were on-site today to continue repairs.

He said that while the leak was stopped and customers were reconnected there were delays in making full repairs due to other pipework and the problem being near a key junction.

He explained: “Our technicians are on site, but due to complications with other utilities’ pipework in the area the repair is taking longer than anticipated.

“With this road being a main access point, traffic conditions may dictate a suspension in the works until later in the day.

"We will remain in contact with the local highways authority throughout the day.”
