Resident's queries and views regarding the Port of Dover community fund will be discussed at a meeting tonight.

In April, the Shipping and Ports Minister Stephen Hammond set out a plan for the future of the Port of Dover, aimed at strengthening community involvement, boosting commercial development and unlocking the potential for regeneration.

Since, the port has taken the initiative and allowed residents to have their say in a range of public workshops.

Tonight's debate starts at 6pm - at Cruise Terminal 2 and will be chaired independently by the Bishop of Dover, the Right Revered, Trevor Willmott.

The three topics up for discussion will focus on the priorities for the fund, whether it should reach the district or town, and who the fund should be administered by.

A statement from the port reads: "We have already been told that nurturing the education and skills of our local young people is really important and we have a fantastic maritime heritage to build on in Dover. How can we capitalise even further on our unique position?"
