Crackdown promised on miniature menaces

POLICE are to crack down on the illegal use of mini-motos and monkey bikes in Dover.

This rider was caught on camera breaking the law by riding on Barton Path.

It's forbidden to ride monkey bikes, mini motos, quad bikes or go-peds on the road, or on public land.

Tony Phillips, the police community support officer for the St Radigund’s beat, regularly patrols Barton Path and will be on the look-out for illegal use of the machines.

Mr Phillips said: “There is a serious problem with these types of bikes and if they are ridden along the footpath like this, there could soon be a serious accident.

“Another problem is that people selling kids these types of bikes are not giving them the information about where they can be ridden legally.

There is almost nowhere where they are legal.”
