A recovery operation is in action, with an air ambulance allegedly having attended.

A police spokesman said: "We were called at 7.20am on Tuesday, September 15 following a collision between a van and a lorry on the eastbound A20 between Capel-le-Ferne and Aycliffe.

"Emergency services are currently at the scene and the carriageway is closed. Motorists are advised to expect delays and, where possible, to use an alternative route."
