Dover has lost out in its bid to have its own Monopoly game created.

The town finished third in the public vote that has seen Canterbury narrowly edge out Tunbridge Wells to win.

More than 6000 votes were cast as Canterbury also beat off competition from Rochester, Margate and Maidstone.

The new game is due to be released in October, meaning that it available for families to argue over during the Christmas period.

Fans now have the chance to vote on what landmarks will make it onto the board.

Robert Osborne, Monopoly Manager at Winning Moves UK, who have the official license from Monopoly owners Hasbro to produce this board, says: “We’re delighted to be producing this official version of Monopoly based on the most popular loved landmarks of Canterbury.”

This is the second time that a Monopoly game has been made for Kent, after the Kent Edition was launched in 2002, but that was taken out of shops in 2007.
