A friendly feline who escaped from her owner’s car is missing in the Dover area.

It is thought two-year-old Suzi found her way out of her keeper Anna Yfantidou’s vehicle through a small hole in the footwell, last Friday.

Miss Yfantidou, 28, was travelling from Greece to Manchester when she missed her ferry from Calais, delaying her by several hours.

Two-year old Suzi escaped from a car in Dover

When she arrived in Dover the communications professional was too tired to continue her journey so decided to stay the night at the Premier Inn in Folkestone Road.

She was not allowed to take her cat into the hotel so left her in the car, not in a carrier.

When she returned on Saturday morning, she was stunned to find Suzi had disappeared.

She said: “I couldn’t believe it! I only left her for five hours. We drove from Greece to the UK over three days and she had been fine.”

There were no signs of a break-in but she later discovered a small hole in the footwell which she thinks is the only way the ginger puss could have escaped.

She said: “If I hadn’t have missed the boat, I wouldn’t have lost my cat.”

Miss Yfantidou asked around the area to see if anyone had seen her before returning home to Manchester without her pet.

She plans to return to Dover next week to put up posters and notices.

She said: “I rescued and adopted her from a welfare organisation in Thessaloniki in Greece a year ago after she had been poisoned.

“I decided to take her with me to the UK now that I have migrated.”

Suzi has never lived outdoors, she was a strictly indoor cat.

Miss Yfantidou said: “I don’t know what feelings she has now. I’m definitely sure that she’s very scared but she usually goes to people for cuddling. She’s very friendly.

“I’m in shock. I just want to know if she’s dead or alive.”

Suzi is described to be very friendly. She is also microchipped.

Suzi is microchipped. Her number is 941000018263447. The chip was linked to Greece but has now been updated with Miss Yfantidou’s English contact details.

She said: “If anyone ever finds Suzi, I will come back for her as soon as possible.”

If you find Suzi, take her to a vet or call Anna on 07596454489 or Lin Toynbee at the Folkestone and Hythe Cats Protection on 01303 237744.
