The search has been called off after a 'body' was spotted by a yachtsman just outside the western entrance to the Port of Dover earlier today.

The Dover Lifeboat returned to base just before 8pm, but the crew could not spot anything resembling a floating body.

Two boats, the Smit Romney and Dover Explorer assisted in search.
