Lorry fire on A2 Jubilee Way in Dover finally cleared

The A2 in Dover reopened in the early hours of this morning after a major lorry fire caused Jubilee Way to be closed throughout Saturday.
The HGV ignited on Friday afternoon causing delays for travellers accessing the Port of Dover. It is understood there were concerns about its cargo adding a complication to the rescue effort.
Emergency crews were on the scene with Kent Fire and Rescue Services (KFRS) using specialist kit to remove the remaining fuel from its tank to prevent further problems.
The lorry was on the northbound carriageway, but traffic was blocked in both directions as work was carried out to bring the fire under control and make the area safe.
A spokesman for KRFS said this morning: “Crews assisting National Highways to recover HGV following a fire on Jubilee Way, in Dover have confirmed the lorry has now been recovered.
“Both lanes are now open. The incident has been handed over to National Highways.”
One man was treated for a cut on his hand. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
