Man found dead on beach near St Margaret's Bay in Dover

A man was found dead on a beach yesterday, sparking a large emergency service response.

The man in his 50s was discovered near Upper Road, near St Margaret's Bay, at around 2.30pm.

Emergency services were called to a beach between Dover and St Margaret's Bay yesterday

Ambulances were deployed to the scene, as well as Coastguard rescue teams from Deal, Langdon and Folkestone.

Unfortunately he was declared dead at the scene.

A police spokesman said: "We were called at 2.30pm on Monday, February 1 to a coastal path location close to Upper Road, Swingate, Dover.

"Officers and the South East Coast Ambulance Service attended and a man, aged in his 50s, was declared deceased at the scene.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious, but is currently unexplained. Next of kin have been informed."
