A man was found dead in an alleyway two days after going missing, an inquest heard.

The body of Daniel Till, 22, of Auden Way, Dover, was discovered on February 24 by police patrols near woods near Priory Hill and Tower Hamlets Road, Dover.

Mr Till was married with two daughters. He had attended Brockhill Park Performing Arts College in Saltwood, and was formerly known by the name of Daniel Trice.

Two days before his body was found, a missing person’s appeal had been made and a police search was launched.

Pathologist Dr George Vittay told an inquest at Dover Magistrates’ Court that the findings were consistent with hanging.

The inquest heard that Mr Till had marital difficulties which had caused him distress.

He left home at 6.45am, later sending a text message to his family that he intended to take his own life. The police were contacted and a search was launched.

DS Steve Mart said the police reports were consistent with reports from the pathologist.

He said: “We’ve downloaded Daniel’s phone which confirms text messages. It all indicated what we believe happened.”

By tracking Mr Till’s mobile phone, a helicopter searched the area, including the cliffs of Dover. A police patrol found his body two days later.

DS Mart added: “As mentioned, there were no defensive wounds and no other injuries on him. He still had his mobile phone on him so he hadn’t been robbed.”

Recording a verdict of suicide, Coroner Rachel Redman said: “I’m of the opinion that he deliberately went off to end his life.”
