Past memories of Kearsney Abbey and Russell Gardens can be shared on the landscape’s new website.

The site, kearsneyparks.co.uk launched as part of the £3.3 million Heritage Lottery Fund, the parks for people project.

The website includes information about the parks, including its history and its future restoration.

It was announced in July that the district council had obtained funding which will provide more community orientated services.

It is expected that the park will host events and that a new group, Friends of Kearsney, will develop as a large network within the town.

Cllr Nigel Collor, portfolio holder for access and property management, said: “The Parks for People project at the Kearsney Parks is not just about bricks and mortar. Generations of local people and visitors have played, visited and even worked in the parks and the great country houses and estates that preceded them. We want to capture this important social history.”
