Three men arrested in connection with the suspected facilitation of eight migrants into the UK have been released under investigation.

The trio, aged 39, 40 and 40 and from the South Wales area, were arrested following the recovery of a boat yesterday in Folkestone.

They were questioned by National Crime Agency investigators last night before being released.

The migrants were found at Samphire Hoe

The NCA is are also examining a second inflatable boat found near where the migrants were picked up at the Samphire Hoe country park in Dover.

The investigation, which is being carried out in partnership with Border Force, Immigration Enforcement and Kent Police, continues.

This incident is the latest in the continuing trend of suspected migrants landing on Kent shores, either by themselves or by being rescued at sea and brought in.

The figure since November 8 adds up to a net 48 incidents involving a total 419 people.

Landings have also happened near Deal and on the beaches of Romney Marsh.
