A missing manhole cover is the reason why traffic has stacked up in Folkestone and Hawkinge this morning.

One lane was closed on the A20 westbound at Folkestone between M20 junction 13 and A260 and re-opened at 8.55am.

Highways England was in attendance, and Kent County Council Highways warned that delays were to be expected since 7.51am.

A police spokesman said: "We were called at 6.28am to reports that the cover for a manhole was missing on a live lane on the A20, near Capel-Le-Ferne.

"The incident was reported in the London bound carriageway and is being dealt with by Highways England."
