MP Charlie Elphicke calls for improvements after severe A20 congestion

Charlie Elphicke MP has been calling for a dual carriageway along the A2 to Dover after the bank holiday getaway led to miles of queues building up towards the port.

Drivers were warned to expect delays again today after Saturday morning saw a tailback of lorries which stretched for eight miles along the A20, reaching Roundhill Tunnel near Folkestone later in the day.

The port of Dover has advised passengers to allow extra time for journeys.

Mr Elphicke, the MP for Dover and Deal, said the heavy congestion underlined the need for lorry parking facilities along the M20 and for the A2 to be made a dual carriageway all the way to Dover.
