Council tax in Dover district to rise by 3.9% in 2020/21

Council tax will go up by an average 3.9% from April.

The annual cost for an average Band D property for Dover district from 2020/21 will be £1,894.39 compared with £1,822.83 in 2019/20.

The figures were confirmed last Wednesday at a full meeting of Dover District Council, which collects the tax.

Kent County Council as usual gets the lion's share, £1,351.26, which is 71.3% of the total sum.

The second largest amount goes to the Police and Crime Commissioner for Kent, £203.15 or 10.7%.

Dover District Council gets £192.24 (10.1%), Kent and Medway Fire and Rescue £79.29 (4.2%) and the average for parish and town councils is £68.45 (3.6%).

Payments are usually from April to January and posted bills will arrive by the end of this month.
