Governors of the Dover Grammar School for Boys have selected Fiona Chapman as its new head teacher come September.
At present, Sonnette Schwartz, who is headteacher at Brockhill Park Performing Arts College in Saltwood, Hythe, is interim at the boys' school.
But when the next academic year begins, Mrs Chapman will step in.
She is currently vice-principal of the Folkestone School for Girls, leading on all aspects of teaching and learning.
She joined the school in 2004 as a teacher of mathematics and has been both head of mathematics and assistant headteacher prior to her current position.
Mrs Chapman started her career in a comprehensive school in Hampshire and has also had experience of teaching in non-selective and independent schools in Kent.
She was also taught in a Kent Grammar school.
Her working life began in accountancy before going on to study for a degree in mathematics and information technology.
A statement from the school reads: "She is passionate about ensuring that every student, not only aspires to achieve their full potential, but through the support and encouragement of all the staff at DGSB, has the belief and confidence to turn this aspiration into reality."
