A new steam train tour is being launched this summer to provide “a nostalgic and magical trip” through the county.
The journey will depart from London Victoria, heading for the Kent countryside, travelling through the North Downs and down to Dover.
Starting on Thursday, June 22, the Steam Dreams Rail. Co will launch its “Garden Of England Lunchtime Tour”.
After this, the journeys will run on Tuesdays from July 4 through to August 29 at 10am for five-hour trips, returning at 3pm.
In what is a new route for 2023, the “picturesque” tour will be hauled by the iconic Mayflower 61306.
Juliet Soley from Steam Dreams said: “We are very excited to be launching this stunning new summer route through some of the most beautiful countryside England has to offer.
“Passengers love the nostalgic experience travelling by steam train affords. This coupled with its luxurious interiors reminiscent of a bygone era, locally sourced menus with an exciting array of dishes (for those choosing the dining option) and stunning scenery makes for a magical day out, creating memories to last a lifetime.”
Visitors will be able to travel in one of three classes: Pullman Style Dining, First Class and Premium Standard.
Premium standard tickets will cost customers £79 each and will provide “tables of four with large picture windows offering stunning views” as well as complimentary tea and coffee.
The First Class option amounts to £125 per person and will seat people in “luxurious carriages” with “cushioned armchair-style seats”. Guests will also be greeted with a glass of sparkling wine, followed by a savoury snack box.
The most expensive option at £195 per person is the Pullman Style Dining. Guests will be given a glass of champagne and will be presented with a “seasonal three-course menu meticulously designed by executive chef Nicholas Allen and prepared on-board”.
The menu includes locally-sourced seasonal produce, inspired by the regional cuisine of the route.
