Plans for a total 24 new flats have been submitted as part of a council project to build 500 affordable homes.

The scheme, by Dover District Council, is for two three-storey blocks on a 0.35 hectare (0.86 acre) site west of the St Radigunds Community Centre at Poulton Close, Dover.

The authority is developing its own interim housing to tackle homelessness and particularly reduce relying on bed and breakfast accommodation.

These homes would be let to local people on the council’s housing list before they are resettled in permanent accommodation.

The mix of one, two and three-bedroom properties will be suitable for wheelchair users as well as for couples and families with children.
