Rush hour motorists may have been alarmed this morning as a herd of cows walked dangerously close to a dual-carriageway.

The cows were taking a leisurely stroll along the grass on the A20 towards Dover, despite traffic passing at 40mph.

It is reported that some of them actually began walking in the road.

Cows looking as though they could step onto the dual-carriageway at any moment.

The police were called at 7am and are at the scene.

A police spokesman said: "Officers are currently at the scene to move the cows off the carriageway."

The road has been temporarily closed while the round-up goes ahead.
