People in Dover are being asked to look out for a missing snake.
Reports not officially confirmed say that it is a python that vanished from the Buckland area on Monday night.
But now the RSPCA is concerned that the creature may not survive the present falling temperatures.
It is as low as 4C in Dover district this afternoon.
Anyone who sees the animal should immediately telephone the organisation.
An RSPCA spokesman said: "We’ve been made aware that a snake is missing but unfortunately we do not know its whereabouts.
" If the snake is loose outside, we have concerns about the animal’s welfare, particularly in the current cold weather.
" If a reptile becomes too cold, they can become very ill and even die.
“We are keen to help the snake, but can only respond if we know where it is.
"So if anyone does spot it, we would urge them to contact our helpline and provide us with the location as soon as possible."
The RSPCA helpline is 0300 1234 999.
