A TEENAGER who isn’t legally old enough to go out drinking has become the first person to receive a red card under the new Three Strikes scheme, less than two weeks after it was launched.
The scheme, aimed at reducing alcohol-related anti-social behaviour, came into operation on November 28, and the 17-year-old, from Dover, received his yellow card – the first strike – on December 3 after being arrested for being drunk and disorderly in a public place.
He was arrested again early on Sunday and has been issued with the red card – the second strike – which means he is now banned from all participating licensed premises in the Dover district for six months.
If he breaks the ban, he risks it being extended for an indefinite period and the authorities will consider applying for an anti-social behaviour order.
The Three Strikes Scheme is being trialled in Dover and is part of drive by Kent Police, Dover District Council and local licensees against anti-social behaviour of all kinds.
