A total of 18 asylum seekers were found inside a lorry on board a ferry, initial reports say.
They were on a DFDS ship today and it is believed that nine were taken to hospital as a precaution.
A police spokesman told Kent Online: "Kent Police was called to the Port of Dover shortly before midday today.
"This was to assist Home Office immigration enforcement and Port of Dover Police following a report that suspected migrants had arrived on a vessel."
DFDS has confirmed that these people were found on its ship Cote des Dunes and the ferry was back in service almost immediately after the incident.
KentOnline has contacted the Port of Dover and the Home Office for further details.
