Road closed after fire at ground floor flat, London Road, Dover

Firefighters were called to a blaze at a ground floor flat.

It broke out at London Road, Dover, at 5.30am today (Monday).

Crews wearing breathing apparatus tackled the flames using a hosereel and main jet.

A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “The callout came as a persons reported one so the premises were searched.

“But the one occupant was already out by the time we arrived.”

Two fire engines, from the Dover and Folkestone stations, were called out crews were at the scene until exactly 6.34am.

Police and South East Coast Ambulance Service were also called out.

London Road was closed both ways due to the fire,, resulting in severe traffic disruption.

Bus services were also diverted.
