A pothole-ridden street – a key road in and out of a housing estate – will be closed for two days while patch repair works are carried out.

Belgrave Road, on the Clarendon and Westbury estate in Dover, is scheduled to shut tomorrow and Friday from 8am to 4pm.

Drivers have to steer clear of potholes at Belgrave Road, Dover. Patch repairs are due to take place Thursday and Friday

Two deep holes, between the Clarendon Place and Clarendon Street junctions, are especially causing a hazard for drivers.

It is more difficult to manoeuvre around them when there are cars parked close by, residents say.

The work will be carried out by Kent County Council and a notice says: “Every effort will be made to maintain access to residents whenever it is safe to do so.

"The closure is necessary to enable carriageway repairs to be carried out.”

The road will be closed at three locations, outside the Clarendon and Westbury Community Association Hall, next to the Clarendon Street bus stop and at the top of the hill near Westbury Crescent.

Belgrave Road is directly between two parts of the estate and most likely to be used by drivers coming in and out.

Alternatives routes include Malvern Road and Clarendon Road.
