Artist and TV entertainer Rolf Harris has looked to Kent for inspiration. Rolf was visiting places in the south east to record a one-off regional arts programme, Made in England, to be screened on BBC1 on April 23.

Among the places in Kent he visited were Dover's cliffs and Chatham Historic Dockyard.

The White Cliffs sparked special memories for Rolf as they were the Aussie’s first glimpse of England when he arrived in Britain in the 1950s.

He said: “It is such a defining view of England.”

He also visited the Romany Life Centre in Cranbrook, near Tunbridge Wells, where he learnt traditional Gypsy caravan painting for the first time.

“This place was bursting with art, inspired by the gypsy outdoor way of life and my first bit of scrolling was a treat.”

Made in England is part of an ongoing partnership between the BBC and the Arts Council England.
